hey guys havent been on JG in months but i have a major problem and need some help. i changed my spark plugs today and must have moved the pcv line while doing the last plug. i think i knocked it out of the back of the engine, but i dont know where it goes back in. now my jeep idles between 1300-1800rpms instead of around 300-500 like normal. from what i could see it looks like the hose goes into a small plastic elbow behind the engine and it looks like mine is cracked. i am supposed to be going on a long trip tomorrow but i cant go if i dont get this fixed. does anyone know if this would likely be the cause? if so how do i fix it? i cant see back there and there arent any diagrams online that i can find. has anyone here done this repair? i dont see how this line can be removed and replaced with the engine in the vehicle. any help would be appreciated!!

You have it like I said in my PM, if you need additional help im sure the pictures diagrams at the dealer will clear things up. Though basically what you have seen is what is there... This WILL cause the high idle. for Chrysler products they use speed density, an air flow calculation. as such when a vacuum leak is introduced it just sees more air and adds more fuel causing your high idle.... if it was a mass air flow car that actually used a device to measure the air, then unmetered air would not be met with additional fuel so it runs like crap (if it runs at all).

I made my trip repair suggestion in the pm but you will want to replace the hose.

There appear to be a variety of bits under that description.
I'd google and look at the pictures from the online dealers selling parts.

I take it may be too far gone to duct tape?

It's hard to tell, but I think the part number is this one (based on your description of its location):

53032617AD 1 EV0 TUBE, Crankcase Vent To Intake
Manifold

If not, it could be:

53013757AA 1 EV0 TUBE, Crankcase Vent To Air

Googling that part number gets a number of hits in the $25 range.

i also assume that diagram is generic, because my hose has an elbow on the part that connects to the back of the engine

i fixed it today using the existing part. wasnt as hard as i thought it would by to reattach the hose. i bought a mechanics inspection camera at walmart for $50 and it worked wonders!!

Great to hear - those types of repairs are the best, and you get a new tool out if it.
